Gender Justice Rally
On March 6th I spoke at the Maryland 2023 Gender Justice Rally in support of our reproductive rights bill package. It was an honor to stand alongside women leaders in Maryland to demand action on gender-based rights legislation. Standing up for Reproductive Rights
I joined Maryland Democratic Chair Yvette Lewis and my colleague Delegate Nicole Williams to highlight Republican Gubernatorial candidate Dan Cox’s extreme stance on abortion. You can find press coverage here and here.
“He’s a zealot. He’s an extremist. So, he could stack our boards and commissions that regulate regulate health care, that regulate the practice of medicine. He has shown an intention of sending clinicians to jail. He’s already indicated he likes doing that,” said Montgomery County Ariana Kelly, D-District 16.
Community Discussion on Abortion with AG Candidate Rep. Anthony Brown
Montgomery County abortion advocates were thrilled to host Attorney General candidate Representative Anthony Brown for a community discussion on abortion rights. Delegate Jheanelle Wilkins and I joined Congressman Brown, Betsy Harned from Planned Parenthood Advocates DMV and Lily Bolourian from Pro-Choice MD to discuss the challenges of abortion care in a post Dobbs world. National Convening – Baltimore
In September, I was delighted to speak at the National Convening of the Pritzker Children’s Initiative which brought together advocates from states who are working to improve the lives of young children through early childhood development.
Hopkins at Home
Approximately 10% of Marylanders have diabetes. On September 29, I joined Dr. Mihail Zilbermint, Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine and Chief of Endocrinology at Suburban Hospital, and Monique Sanfuentes, Administrative Director of Community Affairs and Population Health at Suburban to talk about the challenges of diabetes management. The July Brookings Institution Panel on the future of Abortion Access was amazing.
Definitely worth your time. I shared the panel with national experts Camille Bussette, an economist with expertise in inequality, and Stanford Law Professor Bernadette Meyler, and our moderator Elaine Kamarck.
