Public Schools

I am a proud MCPS graduate and an MCPS parent. I also have a child in the University of Maryland system at College Park. I understand how important PK-12 and university level public education is for our children and our local economy. People move to Montgomery County for our schools. They are our crown jewel.

I have been supported by the Montgomery County Education Association every election. I will always prioritize education funding and school construction funding for our students. I have also passed legislation to modernize our curriculum and increase access to special education services for children with developmental disabilities.

Earl Childhood

Education doesn’t start at kindergarden. I will continue to fight for investments in education, including early learning, from birth to four. We have made significant investments in care for this population over the last few years, but there is so much more to do. I have passed legislation to expand the childcare tax credit and fought to increase childcare subsidies/scholarships for low and middle income families.

I am also proud of the work I have done as Chair of the Joint Committee on Children, Youth and Families. We have especially focused on learning loss as a result of COVID, and how to help our students adapt after a difficult few years as a result of the pandemic.
