In The Press

  • “I was the lead sponsor of the Maryland Contraceptive Equity Act, along with Sen. Delores Kelley, D-Baltimore County. The legislation had many important components, but over-the-counter coverage was most important to me. It was because I knew that over-the-counter birth control had the potential to transform so many lives, particularly for people who face barriers to care, including people of color and people working to make ends meet.”

  • “In this challenging political climate, threats to abortion rights exist even in safe states like Maryland. Our legislation will protect patients and providers, and make abortion a legal right and widely accessible for Marylanders who need this care.”

  • “Sadly, we are witnessing the erosion of 50 years of progress in reproductive health care and justice nationwide. Thankfully, Marylanders will take action to not only ensure our state doesn’t move backward but also forges stronger ahead with protecting reproductive choices and increasing equity and access to these health-care services.”
